Taking a New Business From Idea to Profit

Jessie kicks off this episode by sharing how Of the West came to be. Jessie describes herself as being the “go-to” person for being a connector for her network. If people were looking to hire someone, they would go to Jessie first. She realized that if her immediate circle needed a place to go to hire people in the industry, then there must be a broader need for that service. In the beginning, Jessie kept the idea pretty close to home and took the time to work through the details before putting it out into the world.

At this stage, Jessie started building the technology aspect of Of the West. She went to some trusted ladies in the industry and realized that what she was envisioning was attainable. This was the point that Jessie outsourced the website and worked on putting all of the pieces together. It took just over a year to get the website to a functioning place and Jessie launched on January 1st of 2021. Jessie used a combination of tactics to advertise the launch of Of the West, so make sure to catch the full episode to grab all the tips and tricks used in her launch!

Make sure to listen to the full episode for Jessie's complete journey in starting Of the West and how it’s changed over the last year since launch.

About Of the West

At its core, Of The West was designed to fill what we found to be a large void when it came to the job-seeking and hiring process, specifically within the agriculture and western industries. As many of us know, it takes a special type of person to work in an ag or western industry. Industry experience isn’t necessarily a requirement, but a deep appreciation for our way of life and desire to pass our lifestyle down to the next generation is non-negotiable. Unfortunately, as an employer, it can be difficult to find that type of person, especially when there isn’t one single platform where those types of candidates are searching for jobs.
