The Sustainable Ag Summit

This episode is brought to you by the Sustainable Ag Summit and Natalie and Tara are thrilled to have attended this year’s event. This episode starts off with some live coverage from Summit attendees and what their experience had been like. Natalie and Tara ran into experts like Dr. Marissa Hake and many others so tune in to catch their thoughts on the Summit.

Another key point brought up at the Summit was the Southwest’s water crisis and efforts toward water conservation. Having the event based out of Phoenix, Tara was able to share some interesting facts about water usage in a state that is directly affected by the water crisis. The conversations went well beyond water conservation and what sustainability looks like across the board, Natalie and Tara both moderated panels throughout the event to discuss a variety of topics involving both the consumer and the producer. Make sure to save the date for next year’s Sustainable Ag Summit in Charlotte, NC December 6-7, 2023.

How Much Protein Do You Really Need?

This week Natalie and Tara are bringing a shared podcast episode that has everything you need to know about protein intake. If you’ve been following along then you caught our conversation with Diana Rodgers of Sustainable Dish, who is a huge advocate of eating sustainable beef in order to hit your daily protein goals. The podcast in discussion today is “The Drive” hosted by Peter Attia.

Natalie and Tara kick off the conversation by stating that you are most likely not getting anywhere near the amount of protein you should be getting throughout the day. In fact, it isn’t so much the protein that we need, it’s actually the amino acids in the protein that we need to fuel the rest of our body. This is a lengthy listen, so you can skip to minute 52 for the good stuff, but the whole thing is worth the listen. You can check it out here!

What’s Up With Oil & Gas?

Another news story that Natalie and Tara are sharing today is the latest article from The Guardian on Oil and Gas Greenhouse Emissions. This story was originally shared by Big Sky Caroline on Instagram, but it’s worth sharing again here. According to a new report, half of 50 of the largest facilities around the world have been underreporting their actual emission output. The report comes from the Climate Trace coalition who is essentially the global neighborhood watch for greenhouse emissions. With newly available technology, Climate Trace is able to better monitor global emissions and get a better report on output rather than going off of what’s been reported.
