Hot Takes: Butter Boards & Food Labels
Have you heard of the new butter board food trend? Well, if you haven’t then you are missing out! Move over charcuterie boards, butter boards are the new craze. In this segment of Hot Takes, Natalie and Tara discuss the unlimited possibilities of butter boards. Make sure to follow Tara on Instagram and she explores those possibilities this weekend with her family. The second hot take in this episode is the discussion of more and more products including “vegan” on their labels. Natalie brought up a couple of different examples and was hoping Tara would give her a solid response on how she felt about it, but the results? You’ll have to tune in to find out!
Ag Fact: Fun Facts About Coffee Production
Did you know that California is the only official state in the US that is a certified producer of coffee? In addition to California, Hawaii is also a grower of coffee but not on a commercial level. Here are some other facts about coffee that we bet you didn’t know.
The US imports and consumes the most coffee in the world.
A coffee tree grows fruit referred to as a “cherry” and coffee beans are actually the pit of that cherry.
It takes 1 1/2 square feet to make one cup of coffee
The sale of coffee supports 25 million farmers worldwide
Weekly Discovery: Pawpaw Fruit
Tara’s weekly discovery this week includes having her first experience with a Pawpaw fruit. She experienced this “tropical” fruit over the last weekend at the Hot Balloon Festival in Albuquerque. This fruit is native to the eastern United States and southern Canada and isn’t typically available at your local grocery store so if you have the chance to try this fruit out and about, it comes highly recommended from Tara. You expect the fruit to taste like a combination of mango, banana, berries, and pineapple. If you’ve had one, let us know on social!
Agriculture Industry News: A Conversation About US Pork Production
This week’s industry news is brought to you by California’s Prop 12. Which is a law that was voted in back in 2018 that essentially states that pork producers throughout the country would be required to modify hog facilities to comply with California's animal-welfare law. At this stage, there are several people that are fighting the state's law stating that it violates the Commerce Clause of the Constitution by regulating pork producers in other states. In today’s Candid Conversation, Natalie and Tara dive much deeper on their own thoughts about this law and what it could mean for producers in other industries as well.

Worth the Hype? 40 oz Stanley Adventure Quencher
Welcome to another new segment of Candid Conversations! In this segment, Natalie and Tara are trying “trending” products to give you tea on if those products are worth the hype. This week’s Worth the Hype is the infamous Stanley Adventure Quencher Tumbler. While Nat and Tara aren’t big coffee drinkers, they both think that the tumbler is great to have in the house and have in your when you’re traveling. What’s the final verdict? Check out today’s episode to find out because it might not be what you think!
Ag is the Moment: The Skinny Confidential Podcast
Another new segment of Candid Conversations, is "Ag is the Moment” where Natalie and Tara share an outlet that is highlighting agriculture in some way. Today’s Ag is the Moment is a podcast episode from the Skinny Confidential Podcast. While we love having you listen to our episodes, we highly recommend this episode with Dr. Gabrielle Lyon, who goes into detail on why animal protein is the superior protein and how it can help “lean out, boost your metabolism, build more muscle and increase your longevity.” What they love most about this episode is that these are mainstream, LA bloggers and it’s refreshing to hear both sides of the health story and how animal protein is essential to a healthy diet.
